Promises Kept

Promises made.
Mine kept.
Yours forever broken.
Second chances given.
Learned to keep,
my heart locked tight.
Guarded with torches
of fire lit lanterns.
Black tarry pits around it.
Shielded from your,
broken promises.
Second chances.
I no longer have the
energy to try.
You told me forever.
I so foolish.
A woman scorned from
past loves.
Trusting you was easy.
My soul, my heart, my spirit
given freely.
You took them all.
Threw me into the pits
of hell.

There is always that one relationship. The one that will never let you trust as easily anymore. The one that makes it hard to love anyone the sae.Hard to trust anyone.Always that one.

Never be tempted by the web of words, the words may glisten ... but spiders never change. Peace and healing to your heart, my sister. Thanks for commenting on my poem.
