Promise Me

Promise Me
When the misted hill
Shivers first
You will be my blanket
Forever and
Ever.

That on the long walk
Promise me still
Your arm will join my elbow,
Like Siamese twins,
When day gathers night
Slowly.

And in our room,
 Promise
 The outlines we make
Etch the shadows
Softly.

Then again,
Promise me the
Spot
Just behind that bend in your knee
That whispers
Sweetly.

And not the least,
 Promise me
 The cleft and borrow between
Yours eyes and hair
Where kisses are born
Truly.

 So too,
Promise
When the sun is furthest in our tender sleep
The curve we make is gentle,
 Gentle.

 Yet, above all,
When we rise to greet the
 Almsman’s bell
Please
Give
Honestly,

Promise me.
