Promise
Promise
A paradise earth is what you have promised
Where all your creatures shall dwell in peace
The deserts will bloom with food in abundance
All are invited to join in the feast.
No more will the skies drip down with acid
The air around us hanging thick with smog
The forests safe from those that would harm them
Who greedily devoured them log after log.
The sun will not rise through a haze of pollution
To shine a dim light upon those on the earth
But will shine in full splendour, giving life to the people
Each day will become a glorious new birth.
The seas and rivers will team forth new life
The sky above filled with myriads of birds
Dolphins will play as the sun sets behind them
And the song of the whale’s will once more be heard.
As each day ends and night closes in
A billion stars will light up the sky
As the moon reflects it’s cool glow on the ocean
And the waves stroke the shore with a watery sigh.
Life everlasting is what you shall give them.
Or is it some dream that can never come true?
No, but the dream is the nightmare we’re now in,
But soon it will end for me and for you.
