Project the Projects
Furthermore,
The pink houses, the red brick buildings,
the dingy gray towers,
tear them down
stone by stone,
brick by brick
Open up the sky
give them hope
give them peace
Take away the filth and negativity
and hate
and self hatred
Plant trees
Break up the cement
let flowers bloom
Give the children hope
Let the children sing
Give them a place to run free
Rejoice!
Take away the poison
Breathe life into the air
teach the men respect
teach the women self respect
Give them power
shoulders back
spines upright
heads held high to the sun
Bask in its warmth
Take away the darkness
show them the light
Enhance the beauty
that is already there
Hold the elders up
absorb their wisdom
share it with the youth
Let them know of their past
build up their present
and encourage their future
Project them to the stars
reject the numb mentality
bring back the village mentality
Redeem the souls of our ancestors
invite them in
Listen to the sweetness of their tongues
Engulf yourselves within their words
Feast on their enlightenment
Pass it on
to your children
and your children's children
and their children
Be the reflection they see in the mirror.
Tear them down
Brick by brick
Stone by stone
Start anew.
