Problems We Can'T Fix, Part Ii

...It leaves us facing a situation
that no power humans possess can lick,
thank God poverty is a relative thing,
since it’s an evil mankind cannot fix.

Take also the issue of those in you,
just stepping out into the adult-world,
the college age half-grown convinced that they
can solve it all if their vision is unfurled.
Now half of the problem is their teachers
filling their young minds with disproven crap,
but they would have no success in their schemes
Ii youth didn’t prepare people for that.
The naivete inherent in youth
makes then all mistake passion for wisdom,
no experience means that they can fall
for murderous ideas like socialism.
The optimism common to the age
gets channeled into old ideas malign,
energy gets devoted to bad notions
that wouldn’t capture a more seasoned mind.
We can’t let them get away with all this,
we’ve seen too many folks sent to their grave,
but half the time you explain this to them
they just double-down and misbehave.
We try to show them to learn from the past,
that the long-lasting fire burns slow,
but some things are taught by experience,
which is doled out randomly as time goes.
It’s not something that can ever be forced,
we have to wait ’till the day that it clicks,
our most passionate, easily misled…
one more problem that mankind cannot fix.

And finally, what do we do with those
who are so convinced that they are right,
that if you do not deign to go along
they get enraged and are ready to fight.
The ones who cannot accept the idea
that others choose to live in different ways,
get so incensed they use the media
and tech giants to censor what you say.
Always ready to label with a name
that will end with a ‘—phobe’ or and ‘—ist,’
starting riots in the street with those who
have the temerity to simply exist.
These may be the hardest yet to deal with,
since it’s human nature to have ego,
to think you are blessed with special knowledge
that all the ‘unenlightened’ need to know.
It’s natural to use our own judgment
to decide what’s good and bad for ourselves,
so many simple extend it to others,
and that’s where everything goes all to hell.
Since every soul is, by right, in command
of what they’re going to do with their time,
then what right would someone who is not yourself
have to force you into their own design?
Yet no matter how much this gets explained,
the bastards are still calling for a purge,
some on the right, many more on the left,
just give in to the tyrannical urge...

CONCLUDES IN PART III.
