Prisoners of Time
The hands on her clock moves backward,
sending her thoughts to the time of the terrible trauma
Feelings of helplessness overwhelm her,
and paralyzing fear begins to take hold, chaining her mind
to a wall of perpetual emotional pain
A prisoner of time ...
suffering a mental relapse: an in-the-body experience
of being raped all over again
The clock stops
at this moment of facing her deepest shame
Always feeling somehow it was her fault
for letting the beast who ravaged her
get too close
Questions roil in her mind,
as she burns,
trapped in the fire of frozen time
Did she give an untoward smile,
did she walk in a provocative style?
Did she flirt inadvertently with her eyes,
did she have tainted desires hidden inside,
which this beast sensed somehow?
And the ashes of guilt, she sprinkles
over her deadened body, foreign flesh
she now views with disdain as being unclean
A prisoner of time ...
searching frantically for the key
to unchain her from this awful, recurring nightmarish reality
The hands on his clock moves forward,
sending his thoughts to the anticipated time of primal bliss
Feelings of helplessness overwhelm him,
and pulsing compulsion begins to take hold, his mind chained
inside a cage of agonizing frustration
A prisoner of time ...
suffering a physical obsession: an out-of-body experience
of being impotent all over again
The clock stops
at this moment of facing his deepest fear of inadequacy
Always feeling somehow it was their fault
for letting the beast be released
by coming too close
Answers bubble in his agitated mind,
as he burns,
trapped in the fire of frozen time
Yes, she gave an inviting smile,
walking in such a seductive style
Willingly enticing him with her eyes,
telling him, she too has forbidden desires hidden inside
This beauty beckons him to free the beast inside now
And the ashes of anger, he sprinkles
over his deadened body, foreign flesh
he now views with contempt as being unclean
A prisoner of time ...
never searching urgently for the key
to unchain him from this dreadful, recurring nightmarish fantasy
