Prisoner

A single rib cage protects our hearts,
and so we believe that when our hearts are broken,
it is because of the scarce armor we have surrounding them.
Maybe our hearts aren’t throbbing from the hurt,
but rather they trying to fight their ways out of their cages
so they are no longer held captive to our suffering minds.
