Princess of Atlantis

Listen to poem:
Written: May 23, 2024 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I call you a Venus-blooded princess deity related to grace and love you, alone, lost track of your roots you seem like an amnesiac orphan searching for love and a spot to deem abode lingering emotion still a sight of a shed dynasty a voice from wide Hellenic chasm deep into satin-waved azure sea. You travel through life as a refugee being unaware of your royalty awaiting you is your dynasty Ignorant of celestial ability sliding nightly to kiss your feet your modesty enhances your splendor oblivious that angels revere you. Blood flecks Earth's palms vulture-vamoosed blood loss fragmented feelings slapped at you from men grody to your stature you trade power for gossamer grief saving those who lack to drain you finishing a faintly flickering flame once fatuous flared flawlessly. You still fight valiantly still, search for your ethnic kin you've been banished, little knight supplied by your ancient souls tell you to heed the wave whispering be quiet; listen to Atlantis' harp lament you are infested with worms. Pirates stole your Kismet Zombies inveigle your regal elixir oblivious disconsolate each air eviscerate you and lay you bare quenching hunger in esoteric fruit while you bear ethereal anguish crestfallen, reclaim what's yours let the tides carry you home your tenacity defeats lecherous your breath creates waves hold Elysian sword tightly your veins are boiling with fire blood focus on inner chimera samurai return to your throne wear your genuine crown.

SP, it would be wonderful if the people and place reappeared, but since that is doubtful, your encouragement to the departed stands. It's something we can all relate to when we feel submerged or surrogated. We should never give up--at least while we are still breathing. Your work is inspiring!!!

dearest Sotto-you have an extraordinary ability to continuously create unique and well constructed poetry...poetry filled with exquisite metaphors. This poem is a hallmark of your talent as well as of your insights and intellect. Although this poem is written in free verse, it flows so well. I especially liked: your modesty enhances your splendor oblivious that angels revere you. Have pleasant day, your poetess friend in Texas, Sara

I felt like this poem resonates with me on a very deep level! I used to always say that i live on venus etc. and the way youv described this princess, the struggles constant ebb and flow through life to fine serenity! So well articulated with excellent metaphors and descriptive diction’ i think this might be another one of your best poems written for me! So beautifully done! Elysian sword, inner samurai! Just excellent diction! The flow of poetic techniques in this is impeccable! Best wishes

Terrific poem, which is mysterious, causes me to wonder what historical figure is this? I enjoy the scenario of a strong woman.

This princess has surely seen hell and that's what makes her strong, unique and great. I love the body of the poem and how it flowed. Loved every line. "You travel through life as a refugee being unaware of your royalty awaiting you is your dynasty." Astounding Sotto. I sure do miss being on here.
