Pride Over Love

By George P. Lumayag

I was not sure yet…
but she said with all her heart
that her image belonged to me.

I was confused then…
that her love offered everything
except the one.

I wanted to be sure of it…
as I did, and we ate toasted bread,
through my words she was shocked.

I was so sure later on…
that her pride governed her love
for she walked away from me.
