Prey
As daylight gives way
to the darkness of night,
the immortal one
comes out to play.
A shadowed figure
gloomy and sinister,
slowly nears
it’s chosen prey.
Huddled in cloak
with hands outstretched,
a pale blood drinker
ready to snatch.
Victim’s cries muffled
by one bony hand,
as fangs descend
onto a delicate neck.
Seeking the vein
which gifts it with life.
Intimately held
in place,
as victim struggles
against a nightly predator.
Piercing warm skin,
with vampire eyes
dark and fathomless gleaming.
Tearing into mortal flesh,
let the drinking begin.
