Pretty Blessed
Not quite herself, her forehead hot;
it seems she has thrown up a lot.
And so she’s come to stay with me,
exposing me to what she’s got.
The baby and the other three,
off to the pool to try and see
if they can learn a stroke or two,
around the water, safer be.
I think I had some things to do,
but I’m not even sure that’s true.
I’ll leap at spending time with her,
if only for an hour or two.
And so we will not be deterred,
and in agreement, we concur
that propped up on the bed to rest
is something that we both prefer.
She snuggles in, and that’s the best.
If truth be told, I must confess
I love to watch the chimpanzees,
and with her here, I’m pretty blessed.
