Presidential Library Fountains

Presidential Library Fountains

By Elton Camp

Presidential libraries reveal the man
Both his foibles and his plan

A fountain stands in front of each
Facts about the president to teach

Nixon’s gives the viewer a little peek
Of a plumber while stopping a leak

Kennedy’s fountain looks a lot
Like a scene from Camelot

Johnson’s is like a battle scene
The worst U.S. history has seen

The Reagan fountain’s like a microphone
As the Great Communicator he’s known

The Clinton library fountain space
Show a kneeling woman in disgrace

Bush number one is a fine sight
Showing a thousand points of light

But for Bush number two
Only a waterboarding will do

On and on goes the fountain list
Several presidents have been missed

Realize this poem is only a pretense
So please don’t take any offense

Thanks. I learned that many more presidents have libraries than I knew about although they are outside the system established in later terms. Some are state supported and some are on university campuses.
