Predictably Irrational

In a world of endless choices, so often do we roam, Guided not by sound reason, but the latest iPhones, Predictable irrationality, our minds do plainly sway, Making crucial life decisions, marred by truth decay. A glimpse into the human mind’s intricate design, Where logic and our emotions often do not align, We think we are rational, in control, and self-aware, But TikTok, Instagram, and Apps lead us everywhere. Anchoring and framing, they shape our dim worldview, From the news to opinions, they influence what is true, We are swayed by social media’s viral herd’s direction, With predictable irrationality, there’s no self-reflection. The entitlement effect, is when we treasure what is ours, American exceptionalism, our judgment it does devour, Covetousness grips us, in its powerful and selfish hold, We fear losing our things, than gaining precious souls. Confirmation bias ensures, our false beliefs we’ll uphold, Ignoring obvious, contrary evidence, we’re easily cajoled, History does not repeat, although they say it does rhyme, Predictably irrational in our thinking, reflects olden times. But understanding our quirks, we so often will fail to see, The patterns of irrational thinking that make us less free. In our lifespan of decisions, may we seek to be more wise, Though predictably irrational, we walk with wide-open eyes. So let us all be mindful, aware of our predictably irrational ways, Avoiding biases and disinformation that completely fill our days, In a world of many choices, we have no other option but to roam, Predictably irrational suggests, dumb people with smart phones.
