Precious One

I Knew you when you were very young
Big blue eyes and rosy cheeks
Long to walk and ride a bike
More precious you were to become

Bullied you were almost every day
Those blue eyes would turn sad
Your father left on such a day
More precious you were to become

A sad young man you became
Those blue eyes held bitterness
You became a husband and a dad
More precious you were to become

I knew you when you were very young
You were my son
And for all of my life
More precious you were to become
