Precious

I woke up this morning and there you lay
The sun was shining, another day
A ray of sun fell on your hair
And on your face so soft and fare
You looked to peaceful laying there
Without a care

You know not of dangers that haunt this world
Innocence caught in light
Escaped the cold and dead of night
The mind's eye could unveil
Horrific images that swoop and swirl
Horror from which I will protect you my pearl
My precious child
