Praying Mantis Miracle
The trouble commenced
when I opened my heart window
and a spider, toting a red hourglass, crept in.
Inviting hundreds of its friends.
They quickly set up their sticky iron webs
Deep into the valves and purple veins.
Now they lay thousands of fuzzy eggs.
Upon hatching, they declare I'm the enemy.
It's getting very hard to breathe.
With all of these hourglass phantoms
racing around inside of me
Happiness is trapped in a sticky web memory.
Life depreciates with every cement breath.
My options are a praying mantis attitude or certain death.
