Praying For Rain
People gaze across the plains,
hoping and praying for the rains.
The ground is dry and cracked,
as for too long the rains have lacked.
The heads of cattle are lowing,
as daily their thirst is growing.
It’s been so long since they ate,
that they’re in a pathetic state.
The sheep bleat shamelessly,
as they wander aimlessly.
There’s nothing for them to eat or drink.
as deeper into apathy they sink.
The goats forage fruitlessly,
and chew on everything eagerly.
They soon lose their bouncy saunter,
as they become even gaunter.
In the distance clouds are massing,
and all the creatures pray for their blessing.
