Prayers For the Blue and Gray

Driving down the road as the fog rolls in, I see them and I stop the car. Watching all the wandering souls, Lost, wounded and dying. I hear the screaming, cursing and dying, As their bones are cracking from, Being ripped apart from their limbs. Standing looking at the memorial, Listing of all who died. Brother against brother in blue and gray, Kneeling, caps off crying for all who died. As tears glide down my face, I walk sensing, feeling their pain. Yes I can see you, You need to go home, the war is over. They walk past me as I feel their hand, On my shoulder disappearing, Into the night.
