Prayer For Peace

Let love be the key and
the purpose of my being.
Let compassion course
through my veins, and
kindness to humanity be
the reason for my existence.

Let there be a hope for
the future in the graveyard
of destruction, and let
new life spring from the
seeds of murderous greed.
An end to need.........

A sharing of resources
in a world that has enough
for everyone. No more hunger,
no more violence, just an endless
spring of hope from which to
drink, and love on which to feed.

If we all shout loud enough
our voices will be heard.
If we all stand tall enough
the spine of faith will straighten,
and changes will occur.
But if we whisper in the corner,

and let the bullies win,
and with a look they wither us
so we crumble and give in,
then the destruction will continue:
the world will surely die,
the rivers all will cease to flow;

and we'll be left there you
and I, still cowering in the corner
mouthing silent words of platitude,
watching armies of undoing
conquer towns of desolation
and fields of broken dreams.

Let's all sing together then,
with unity of voice.
Let's all march with defiance
while there's still a choice.
Join hands in rings of friendship,
shout loud a victory song,

Let all the world, from east to
west harmoniously sing along.
