Prayer After a Quarrel

Today, reality and expectation didn't match;
we quarreld
when we wanted to be close.

Lord help us listen more
and say less.
Help us avoid
reaching conclusion
before we hear
what the other has to say.

Make us slow to anger
and quick to make up.
Teach us to remember
we can't read
each other's mind.

Lord, keep loving us
unconditionally.
Teach us to keep on loving
every day
as we discover once again
who we are.
