Pray For Yourself

Others will pray for your health, it's true
but don't neglect to pray for yourself

You pray your heart out to God
that He heal all who are ill
Just don't forget to include yourself

You ask for a swift and complete recovery
for all those sick and wounded, in need
Don't forget to ask Him for your delivery

Yes, relatives and friends will pray for you, it's true
They may even visit, but with that they are through
But when you pray for yourself, it spurs you to act
to ensure that your medical treatment is more than just capable
~ that it's bestowed upon you with care, compassion and tact

So, don't neglect to pray for yourself (as well as for me)
That He grant us both a swift and complete recovery

This is the one thing I fear we forget to do. It is so much more acceptable to pray for others.

First for yourself, then for others! Sound selfish?! Well, Aaron, Moses' Brother, the first High Priest, was instructed (by God) on Yom Kippur/The Day of Atonement, to offer expiation first for himself and his family, and only then for the entire Israelite nation. Again YOU come first. The logic of that is: If Aaron was not healthy/OK, he was unable to offer up sacrifices and prayers properly for others. If true for Aaron, all the more so for us... A Happy, more pain-free Wednesday to you, my friend! Cheers, Gershon
