Pray For Australia

Houses built with love and thought gone in seconds. Poof!
Koalas who have lived in a territory for generations running
to gulp air
to find water
but alas many die any way

Trees gone. Grass blackened. Earth crying. Australia disappearing.
Hopelessness felt around the world, as we watch the inferno
Taking lives
Taking homes
Taking safety and freedom

Kangaroos and koalas falling by the thousands never to get up
Destruction devouring Australia
Destruction of houses
Destruction of millions of animals
Devastating destruction

Everything disappearing in an apocalyptic inferno.
Climate change nightmare
Climate change reality
Pray for Australia

Caren, Thank you for putting this tradegy into a poem. It touched me very deeply. I like the poetic form of the piece and the request for prayers! We are not helpless in the face of tradegy when we have prayer.

I am so sorry for Australia right now. That could be all of us!

One need only see a koala bear on fire racing up a burning tree - its natural route of escape! It was good to see Japanese volunteers actually fighting the fire instead of posing for photo ops! When one sees the devastation, it is difficult to comprehend how anyone can claim the climate has NOT changed! Aloha! Rico

The devastation is unbelievable. I am shocked we are not all feeling it. I would think we could feel the heat on the other side of the world.

Thank you Connie. It is something that takes up quite a bit of my time right now. I keep thinking of those animals that did make it and how thirsty and hungry they are!
