Notes About The Poem

These verses are inspired by the book, Prashna Upanishad, authored by Guru Bhaktananda.  Prashna means question, that is, questions of earnest seekers on the path. The reflections however do not purport to be a translation and in fact are merely the reactions of this poet, based on his internal spiritual journey. As such, the reader should go through the original text and come to their independent conclusions.

Prashna Upanishad verse 5:7

A, U, M as alphabets in mantra Om,
have been by the scriptures over analysed
but riding waves of thought we never reach home
for as long as life is weighed, measured and sized,
like a directionless soul, earth we will roam
and the truth of God will not be realised.
Let the gong of Om arise all by itself,
revealing to us in time, the light of Self.
