Notes About The Poem

These verses are inspired by the book, Prashna Upanishad, authored by Guru Bhaktananda.  Prashna means question, that is, questions of earnest seekers on the path. The reflections however do not purport to be a translation and in fact are merely the reactions of this poet, based on his internal spiritual journey. As such, the reader should go through the original text and come to their independent conclusions. 

Prashna Upanishad verse 1:7

God as the one life force, dwells in every heart
but the ego feels that it is separate,
so if our search for truth we wish to jump-start,
simply standing still letting not fear forms bait,
thought constructed demons of darkness depart,
whence as the sole architect of our soul’s fate,
in the pause of silence, pheromones mingle
and truth becomes clear when our eye is single.
