Power Series

From April to
September
our children’s ages
comprised
a power series - 2,
4, 8
then 8 turned 9
and the series
crumbled
though 2 & 4
remained
but in February - 4
turns 5
and all is lost
until April
when 2 turns 3
and we have 3 & 9
until September
when all
permutations
disappear.

Acquaintances,
including my wife
think it’s peculiar
that I
a) note,
b) remark, and
c) write a poem
on these vanishing
singularities
Maybe they're
right.
