Power of a Hug and Kiss

The Power of a Hug and Kiss
is great beyond belief!
They can be used, to congratulate,
they can comfort, when there’s grief!

Misery, woe, and sadness,
can be replaced with bliss.
Sorrowful times, can be less painful,
with a gentle hug and kiss!

Sometimes, for whatever reason,
partings, must be for quite awhile!
People will share, a parting hug and kiss,
that lasts, till they can reconcile!

Hugs, sometimes, are just a gesture,
like shaking hands with someone new!
But, kisses show much more feeling.
Which hugs, are rarely, apt to do!

At times, when one may feel intense 
and they’re life seems all amiss,
it’s amazing, the relief they get,
from a gentle hug and kiss!

They are the flowers of affection
and at times of grief and pain,
the relief that they can offer,
is impossible to explain!

Though they work real well together,
which goes unsaid, it’s true,
sometimes, just a kiss or just a hug,
might be all one needs to do!

So, if someone is feeling low,
just remember this!
All they may be needing is,
a tender hug and kiss!

David Smith January 8, 2021 at 6:41 PM Someone who gets it. I have written poems of a similar vein. Well presented piece that says it all and is poetically sound. A friend can give what the doctor ordered but a councillor has to forego that. Also friends can be phoned at 2 am. not so often a councillor. There is a place for them but friends can limit the need. Humans are too often reactionary animals but enjoy being human and above ground and am fortunate in having enough friends and almost enough hugs. All the best David in NZ
