Poverty's Grin

Poverty; you dirty word!
You must be what I want.
Your poverty; you say out loud
is yours to name gallant.

That filthy word you've come to know.
No way to end it's pain.
That what you say is quite that way
to just ignore it plain.

That when you go to ask for more
remember that it's been.
For all the years not asked of you
your politician's grin.
