Pour Down Rain Day
Leaves soggy drowned on path
abandoned by walkers, joggers,
bikers, boarders,
lovers, mothers with baby carriages,
lost soul wanderers, others.
Abandoned
earth musty
buried in compost's organic decay
splashes of mildewy moldiness
earthworms over-watered
wilting on bed of black lettuce
croutons for
birds that wearily
snuzzle in treetops
with shiver blankies
toe to beak.
Squirrels inspect nuts
for cracks against weather
neighborhood shock
follows new season inundation
belly growling loudly
and shouting
dark, damp, cold
hints of
end
