Potent Petals

Clouds explode and bloom Flower petals fall as rain Sunshine picks them up again Counting each scented one He loves me He loves me not (The rhythm of a young girl’s dreams) Aphrodisiacs of soothing fragrance swirl: Lavender, Honeysuckle, Roses Magnolias in the summer Frangipanis for the evenings In Spring, Wisteria, in time for beginnings Lily-of-the-valley, delicate but tough Jasmine, so calming at the pressure points Young girls twist daisies together, a friendship chain Before candy necklaces became all the rage Aloha leis welcome us into the warm island sun Anchor us as friends to the Pacific chain Should cataclysmic clouds explode and bloom Showering all mankind with potent petals How dangerous our scented love becomes A contagious infusion of happily ever after
