Posession of a Memr'Y

I was headed on home
From a 12 hour shift
Next thing I knew
I ended up in a ditch

Cop came along
And wanted to know
Son were you drinkin'
Why'd you go off the road

I said I'm guilty sir
Of only one thing
Lovin' too much
Then losing my dream

I ain't had a sip
Or done any drugs
It's only her memr'y
That's got me messed up

I'm in possession of a memr'y
It's all my mind keeps revolving around
I'm in possession of a memr'y
When I think of her it gets me down

I must have dosed off
In dreams of better days
The last time I saw her
Was just yesterday

She walked with a smile
Holding another mans hand
It's all too much
For me to comprehend

I'd have given my life
Body and soul
I'm sorry sir
Am I free to go

I'm in possession of a memr'y
It's all my mind keeps revolving around
I'm in possession of a memr'y
When I think of her it gets me down

With an understanding look
He said you're free to go
But before you do
I want you to know

I've been in your shoes
And I've walked that line
The only help out there
Is simply just time

I'm a man of the law
But I'm also guilty
For I too posess
An old memory

I'm in possession of a memr'y.......
