Listen to poem:

Portal

a university café
a table at the threshold of my life
paths fork in all directions

loud the call of destiny
while a bluesy piano song
grinds the passing of time to a halt

I always knew one day
I would remember
this very moment
stalled at these very
crossroads of my youth

time standing still
surreal I hang on
to a feeling that’s
curious and magical

"bluesy piano song" - this made me smile. Love the word bluesy. Your poetry is better every second Line.

So nice, Line. Those days were so exciting and exhausting, looking for signs and markers and portals to our future. "a table at the threshold of my life" - so evocative. Love this, a fav ~ John

Thanks, Julie. I was lucky enough to take a sabbatical from work to back back to finish my BA~ I even lived on campus for that one year. How I treasured every moment!
