Pondering

He got up slowly from his seat With shaky knees it was quiet a feat And stretched his back to straighten then Shuffling over to the the kitchen bench end He sipped his coffee made with instant Staring out the window mulling over his circumstance There was a time when he stood straight Looking life in the eye and each day was not left to fate He set his course without a look back with no sway Looking life square in the eye as was his way But that life passed some time ago While he made other plans in his life’s show And he is known for telling stories of the old days When he stood tall and showed the way For his memories are what remain of those times As he looked out the window and paid the world no mind. © Paul Warren Poetry
