Ponder This Before You Can'T
If memory be a wizened
rainbow string of cotton candy
With i best trying to win in a
traveling fair a goldfish circling
in a bag of freshly squeezed alcohol infused urine
And like the fish i do not know
or do not care
If i and what is fair
As isn't life but all a game with memories our only prize for
for playing and taking part in it
Then so in summation if indeed
i am correct
We are born one day
To die the next
And all that's left and at very best
a single person can expect is to
leave behind
Is memories for those who's lives
we have somehow crossed and
touched
Along our trampled path from start
to end
Is to remember us by when our
mortal flesh fades away and we
are laid to rest underneath a stone
effigy
Then surely blessed or blessed be
those with memories of an
Elephant
As they are the air that fills the
lungs and sounds the brassic
trumpets
Accompanying the mourners
shuffled steps and heartfelt
tears in solent contemplating
For they are of this world
no more and this is how we know
So God be all to some and few
to all but nothing i nor you or
anyone can do
The unflinching truth to both
you and i one and all
Is this
Death comes to us all
And life is not a bumper sticker
waiting for you to beep
And nothing in life is free
Apart from maybe telling someone
that you love them and expecting nothing
in return but a glimmer of a smile or
the warming of a cold heart
