Notes About The Poem

If friendship matters to you, think before you speak your political mind to a friend.

Politics and Friendship

Politics and Friendship

Politics and friendship
Don't get along so fine
The former makes us crazy
And sometimes asinine

The latter can't be stepped on
When the former disagrees
The former can kill the latter
With a terminal disease

Sometimes there is no cure
For what foolish people say
In their penchant for political
Their mouths get in the way

Friends will never all agree
With political report
Friendship can be threatened
With unthinkable retort

Opinions thought provoking
When voiced with common sense
Are means for great discussion
Not for putting up defense

If friendship is important
When politics get in the way
A considerate discussion
Beats an ultimatum any day

When political position
Heads friendship in the queue
It's best to change the conversation
That's what friendly people do

When politics are brought up it is always best to change the conversation. Nicely expressed poetic thoughts.

Thanks Chris. I agree politics should not be discussed. If they are there should be consideration given.
