Politicians on the High Ground

Politicians on the high ground
Whatever could that mean
Upright, upfront. upstanding
I'm not sure I've ever seen

Speaking on their platforms
Telling of their don't s  and do s
I've been there, seen that brother
I've walked a little in your shoes

Know how much you're hurting
Hard to pay the bills and all
Here to serve the little people
All you have to do is call

What's that? You couldn't get me?
Contact me through the internet
A canned reply I'll send you
That is likely all you'll get

I'm really much too busy
Hobnobbing with my cronies here
Eventually I'll get to you
Election time is near

I ask you to support me
Send me money you have found
So I will be here next time
Ruling from this higher ground
