The common ground or common goal which forms a bond sees both parties on the same side. As soon as one side purposely puts the other at a disadvantage for their own benefit the roots of the bond are torn up and the life of the bond is gone. You can attempt to replant the bond in the same soil but it will never be the same, and why attempt to rebuild something that was previously ripped from the Earth that gave it its existence when the planet is ripe with fertile soil.
