Point Your Fingers at Your Own Chest

True, there is evil in this spinning, world so vast and wide.
But to label, entire groups, shows that humans can be snide.

I am not talking about murder here at all here.
But it’s so easy to condemn others with words and jeer.

We do not present true facts to prove that anyone is a cheat.
We just toss out generalizations, while we tap our poetic feet.

While good men and women may lose lives tonight in battle.
We are warm and safe at home and hear only our pens rattle.

We get a POTD and it might go to our most creative heads..
We think we are special, while civil servants, by tonight, will be dead.

America, or any country needs men and women to protect and serve.
In their armies or in politics, before Communinism throws us a fast curve.

Most of us have had ethical or religious training of various kinds.
It’s unseemly to condemn any, who serve in anyway, is indeed, most unkind.

Watching the words we write, is far from a tasteless joke.
If we pen to destroy others, we are no better than pigs in a poke!

Generalizations about entire groups are reflection’s on our souls and us.
Share ‘your ‘character defections, before casting aspersions of others at us!

So true, Pangie. I often think about the little inconveniences that worry me and my friends, and yet in other places of the world, people are starving or facing war. It's a very messed up world!

Andrea, we all meed to develop and attitude of gratitude.iknow it is easy to complain!! We are surrounded by a negayive press and negative media. We each have to find our antidote to this! Hi Darlene, yes, yes, this finger pointing is evil. With a press that lues, Comedians that llue, the propaganda machine works day and night to turn off against one another. So I take that into account too. They all need to face grave punishment, and they never will. What will happen if they’ll get awards reporting on lies.n and the cost of their lives? . Death to innocents worlwide. All these wires and depressed deserve to burn in hell one day.. Thank you, Darlene. Pangie

Dearest Pangie, This is a powerful call for personal accountability and empathy. Showing us to avoid generalizations and focus on individual actions, you urge us to acknowledge our own flaws before criticizing others. The poem's message about recognizing the sacrifices made by those who serve, while we stay safe at home, is particularly poignant. Your wonderful concluding line encourages introspection and self-reflection, urging us to strive for better within ourselves before pointing fingers at others. This is a thought-provoking piece. - Blessings, Daniel

Daniel, this is my my 4th at responding to you,. I overwrite…Ugh! Briefly, i learned to question everyone and everything. Living in San Francisco in the 70’s was the most impressive time of my life.. i pay tribute to all I met there !I studied and was active in transformational seminars. I salute my hundreds of mentors, there is no win in making others wrong. Pangie

So well said, dear Pangie. The lack of civility in some corners on PS can be volatile. If a poet feels they cannot provide positive feedback to a poem, then they should refrain from commenting. There are some poets who are extremely sensitive. Thank you for penning this important poem. All the best to you. xoxx

You got the message. Further time one could always write to another program and the kind way to clear up differences maybe they can’t be cleared up but don’t go beating poets on the head. That is so insane.. pangie

Well, what a great comment, Bob. I know that you, too, care about people, the planet and where we are headed. What we do, say, speak affects us today and for generations to come. Hiding behind the drapes, or worse, fearing we will offend someone? A cowardly stance. You know the policy here. Positive comments only. Poets who attack other poets need to be shown the exit door. Only the insecure harm other poets! Thankfully, you walk on higher ground! Pangie
