Poinsettia

Pretty flowering plant
Often seen at Christmas,
Indigenous to Mexico
Now available at nurseries
Showy scarlet bracts,
Each surrounding yellow flowers
That require much attention
Throughout the season
In order to re-bloom
And delight next year.

They're synonymous with Christmas, especially the red ones you mention, but the variegated pink and white have become my favorites. Good Acrostic, Milt.

Plant it in the ground, but you need the right spot.

Thanks, Jenna. I like those, too. I wish I could figure out how to winter them over. I follow all the directions and suggestion and still they never make it!

Very beautiful flower, I was brought up to believe was poisonous, not so. Right to the point-setta acrostic! La Flor De Navidad!

Thank you so much, Anaya. It certainly is one of the most beautiful plants, especially in that it is the leaves that are so stunning, not the actually flower.

Thank you, Caren. I love them, but I've never managed to get one wintered over!

Beautiful flowers they are too Milton, I didn't know they were of Mexican origin. You learn something new every day. Tom

They are, Tom. I love them this time of the year, but, as I have said before, I've never managed to winter one over.
