Poets, Poems, and Exegetes
The world like a leaf falls
Swirling in the wind
Men will understand what they want to believe
I write only as a friend
Mentoring words from webs of meaning
The pictures framed are wrong
Shadows have shape from angle of the light
Where I investigate
The theories of symbols and interpretation
It is neither flirtation nor fascination
Rinse the page upon the eye
And see the sentence outside the mind
Like street girls waiting for a ride
To a better life.
This poet is not drawn to virtual things
Genuine tributes must be told
Where deepest our treasured centered holds
The hankering of the flesh for life from life
The singing in the loins
Against the vigilance of death
Too vain too vain you make the mouth profound with common words.
