Poetrybook

I'm out of the loop on Poetrysoup,
I don't interact with the rest of the group.

On this site I've got static views,
others thousands, here just a few,
so to get me a boost,
a new tactic I choose.

A comment for a comment is a common exchange,
keep them coming and constant so we're not estrange,
compliments, compliments so all are in range,
and I bet you those numbers continue to change.

Admit it, this visit, results from a comment I submitted,
your comment is permitted on this write full witted.

I left you a comment now you're here for a look,
a commonly bound chain found on Facebook,
I threw out the hook and the action was took,
they call this site Soup but it's Poetrybook.

I don't do 2facedbook and try and read and comment on soup as widely as I can but time is a big factor on how much I can do:-) I make far more comments than I get responses too and I think others find this to:-( hugs Jan xx

Or even more fitting poetry-Hook!! Yes, you hooked me in. Sadly, I have no extra time except to return comments for comments. I hope one day it does not have to be that way, but with all that is on my plate it's the only way I can manage. Sadly, a person here often does not even get comments back from comments, but you will always get one from me if you visit me, Nick (plus I actually read each poem i visit!!)

:) Clever comparison of Poetry Soup to Facebook. It is true that comments to others' poems inspire them to read yours. It's this type of interaction that has built the poetry community here. Well said, Nick. Best wishes, Carolyn

True to a point, I leave many comments to poets if I enjoyed their verse.I learn from them. I don't expect them to rush over to mine to give me a comment in return. When I first joined soup it said encourage others by leaving a comment and I try to do that. Paul's comment is bang on. Time is another factor, its not always possible to look in, I'm only on now because it's raining, P.S. Loved your verse though. Is that a 'like' ?. (can't stand Facebook) Tom.

I think your poem serves to lay bare the Soup system, Nick. I believe in encouraging others, but not at the cost of dishing out false praise. In the process I look out for the positive without harping on the negative. ~ Regards // paul
