Poetry Is

Poetry is a lonely craft
Those of us that write must be slightly daft
For every thousand writers of the rhyme
Only one reader follows and not all of the time
Even the closest of relatives and one's dearest friends
Care little for the poets works and little encouragement lends
So write on lonely poet write on if you must
Chances are your books will soon be covered with dust   
And as you toil on with your craft secluded and alone
Be aware there’ll be no mention of your writes
   on your final gravestone

I have always been interested in poetry, long before I began to create my poetry. I write for my friends that enjoy it. As well for myself. I also like to see my poetry on the Soup. I will never stop writing poetry. Nice to meet you.Charles.

Hi Charles, I don't mind living this life I live, inspired by words. A few friends and family following the joy and depth of my poetry. However, I don't want to go without leaving an imprint of what I love on my grave.. A fine write.. I enjoyed.. LINDA

I understand this poem all too well. I am a rhymer, also. Most of my poetry is rhyme. which is so archaic to some (hence my name lol). I think rhyme is the most beautiful form of poetry; wish there were more of us. Great poem, Charles; I identified with everything you conveyed in this work :)

oh what a sad sentiments here, Charles.:((.. yes, you're right ...we may not be remembered for what we've written... our ink maybe emptied but no one will complement... that's OK :') ..Poetry is happiness...writing is a passion that gives meaning to one's soul...a fulfillment of every dreams...so keep on penning!! ^__^
