Poetry In a Drawer
All my loose poetry
No longer flows all over my floor
I stuck it all inside a drawer
All I know is I couldn't take any more
It was chaos and all a mess
I digress, I must confess
Some poems exist between the pages of notebooks
What really stings
Is that I believe my words to sing
Until I read between the lines
Then I see I've lost my rhyme and my mind
I experience the "glitches" deep in my soul
My heart beats fast and I just don''t know
I want to burn it all to the ground
I know I am no longer mentally sound
So I shove the notebooks close
And I slam the drawer shut
Ignorance is not bliss when I can't write a simple list
Knowledge is not power when I need a shower
If only I could shove all the bad feelings, thoughts and experiences
Away in just the same way
But all that negativity would never fit in a drawer
A closet, maybe
But never a drawer
