Poetry Held Captive
Poetry held captive, I can’t find my words
If I scream them out loud, they would still go unheard
Poetry held captive, imagination is stained
Soiled my inspiration, now I’m stricken with pain
Poetry held captive, nowhere to be found
My mind speaks a thousand tongues, but there is no sound
Poetry held captive, no way of escape
Violating my expressions, committing lyrical rape
Poetry held captive, I can’t find my voice
My heart no longer sings; there’s no need to rejoice
Poetry held captive, I can’t find my verse
Without it I’m lost, as if I’m cursed with a curse
Poetry held captive, where are my thoughts
Daggers piercing through my mind, it’s like poetic assault
Poetry held captive, alone and distraught
I’ve searched high and low, my lyrics are sought
Poetry held captive, it longs to be freed
Release this hold you have, take these chains off of me.
