Poetry Happens

Poetry happens when you least expect it It seems to come from out of nowhere Poetry happens when you are driving It happens when you are walking When you're lying in bed or on the phone talking Poetry happens That's why I believe poems Aren't written they're given How else do you explain Their spontaneous creation In an instant a poem can come to mind Most times it's origin is hard to define Their random occurrence Lends credence to my believe That first poems are given And then they are written That's why poetry happens When you least expect it
