Poetry Contests

poetry contests show our worst 
we strive and struggle to come first
whilst all that matters, is our smile
participating free from guile
doing what we love, as bliss bursts

Or

poetry contests seek to test
do we act at egos behest
disconcerted at poor result
or do we always bliss exult
breath of God heaves our joyous chest

I have learned much from writing contest entries, reading other entries, reading the motivating entries of other poets, learning new forms, stretching out of a comfort zone. I try to view each contest as a unique opportunity to grow, produce something new, unique and original. Thank you for all of the opportunities you provid to do just that! Blessings!
