Poetry Awareness

It’s National poetry month
I’m glad someone noticed us I profess
So here we toil at our computers
they should be reporting us not the shooters
Thousands upon thousands of writers should unite
to keep going and never give up this fight
Make people see it’s not all that hard
to sit down and read it, like a giant card

Many a people have told me so
They don’t like poetry to read on their own
they’d rather someone read it to them they groan
So for heavens sake lets stand up and give it a shake
Dust off those mikes and open a barren room
Line up the chairs gets out the broom
Make poetry speak loud and clear
Lets all stand up and appear
