Poetic Silent Treatment

Left a comment on her poetry site,
a rating good and criticism light;
other readers had messaged there,
most praiseworthy, which was fair;
and she answered, nearly them all,
but to my note she let silence fall;
why this treatment, I couldn’t tell,
at least some reply like “Go to hell.”

Inspired by the feeling I get when I leave a comment or two, or perhaps even a bolder message rather than noting something for everyone to see, and all you get is stone silences, and you wonder if they read or saw it, surely they did, or if they didn't like it or if they didn't like your face. I'd rather get a sharp rebuke than silence.

I learned that before the Reply feature was included, poets would just comment back, Jim. But to get a comment but neither reply nor comment back, now that can indeed arise to hurt and resentment in a community which prides itself in encouragement. Hope things improve with you airing your sentiment thru this write. :-)

Since receiving such a warm welcome back here, I feel encouraged to also post positive comments for other efforts. I would like to think I would always reply. It does hurt to be ignored.

Of course, there are many personalities, and you can't expect everyone to respond.

That kind of silence is deafening, Jim. Sorry you didn't receive a reply. I'm with JAN...I reply to all comments, to do other would be rude, but sometimes comments get overlooked, esp. if it's been some time since the posting. I'd be willing to bet you don't get ignored any more. ;)

It is hard to answer all comments, especially when you get a lot (which I normally don't) but when you send a message and get no reply. . . .chilling.

The negative ones are the ones you want to blast, unless it is constructive.
