Poetic Gestation
Poetic Gestation
Opinions of others can cause a poet’s heart to ache.
Those feelings are very real, don’t ever think they’re fake.
Encapsulate your heart and always write for thee.
Bring forth your fire and passion, then let your pen run free.
Don’t ever rate your value, on someone else’s taste.
To do so would be wrong, your work is not a waste.
There is no point of view worth tearing yourself apart.
Just focus on your talent and be master of your art.
I do not have a degree, that tells me what’s wrong or right.
I have no dissertation, on what I think others should write.
But what I have is this, a mind that controls my fate.
I’ll wait for my poetic gestation; don’t take it from my plate.
Contempt will always be found, in every morning breeze.
Always follow your heart and see the forest for the trees.
Try to channel your thoughts, unbeknownst of the spring.
Judge not my words, but the message that I bring.
