Poet For a Day

Writing reams of connected verses
Rhymed curses similar sounding words
Words fly forth my birds
In broken skies fall
Like rain from my swollen
Fingers but just for today
I’m only a poet for a day

Tomorrow brings a different
Fate lies within these lines
A 24 hr. destiny created with
These lies hr 25 comes
Back to real life lived
The old way no rhyming today
I was only a poet for a day

One day to write about
Sunrisen smiles
Caribbean sunset eyes
Moonlit kisses let me live
In today painting Mona Lisa
Smiles but just for today
I’ll only be a poet for a day
