Poems of My Lifetime

My poetry book contains poems stained with my tears, memories of all my years, lost loves
mixed with fears, those days stained with ash, my life and times in a flash, some subtle,
some rash, bringing out my past, put in words, I pray will last, some true some borrowed,
balancing joys and sorrows, some bright some shadowed

My favorite Senryu is Captain White

Oh father of mine
Tall, true, giving Army gifts
Vietnam took you

MItch, I was visualizing myelf AS the book. I am not a senryu writer, so I do not have a favorite senryu poem. It would not represent the real poet in me, so I took my basking senryu out of the contest. It's no biggie. I rather like the senryu I came up with using myself as a book haha. At least I got inspired to do that little thing. LUv, Andrea

This is very good, Mitch. Obviously I totally mistook what LInda wanted us to do with this contest, becuase I am seeing everyone interpreting her contest in the way you are doing it. I gotta soup mail her and ask her what's up. How could I get it so wrong? Luv, andrea

I am astounded by this write (both the poetic explanation and the awesome haiku). I concur with your admiration of the Captain White haiku. I was drawn to your SoupList by the following comment which you left on someone else's entry: "You have shown your honor, and laid down your armor, a new friend now stands beside you, wishing you success on your next Haiku". Such a welcoming encouragement you gave. Mitch White, Thank you for the tenderness in your heart.
